Brisas Del Mar Rental Hall IS BAD BUSINESS (NOT WORTH IT)!!!..
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!.... here's my story
They capture you with the decorations and I agree the space is great. But once you are tied into a contract there is no going back. They have No "REFUNDS". The owner over prices for these halls. He also owns the one on Palmetto and Woodward which is bigger a space. At first its all beautifully done and thats how they capture you.
My contract conisisted of having the place decorated, cleaned, speakers, tables set-ups for over 70 people. As time went by and closer to the date, the owner was hardly ever to be found. Never returned calls and "IF" you do get to speak to him he doesn't understand ENGLISH. So he involves his wife to speak.
I had requested to have the place opened by noon (which his wife did) to make sure things were taken care of. To get to the point, when the time came for my day. I was left with disappointment. I ended up decorating the space, moving tables and chairs, swapping out table cloths, and cleaning the place up....nothing was done! After several attempts in calling him. He fnally decides to show up. I asked him what happened to my decoations and his comment was "oh that takes 5 minutes" granted all I asked for was table cloths, chair covers and runners. Why wasn't any of that done? Nothing was prepared.
As I begin fuming with anger I noticed he had left the previous table cloths and chair covers from the previous party that was there the night before. THE CLOTHS WERE FILTHY, STAINED AND DISGUSTING. At this point I had no choice but to make the best of it. To my surprise I find out that he not only scams you of your money, he manipulates your contract into thinking what decorations mean. (YOU HAVE TO BE SPECIFIC WHEN YOU SAY DECORATIONS). He thinks its giving you space and cleaning and a few table cloths and chair covers are it!!!
The man is unprofessional and disturbingly unethical. My final gripe was when I made the final payment, and I was kind enough to give him the remaining balance in cash which I shouldn't have because I ended up decorating and moving tables and chairs around myself. Not to mention he didn't clean up the night before. But as I gave him the money he shook my hand and left!!! He didn't think of counting it in front of me and give me my receipt! So I decided to call him and he didn't answer. I left messages and he didn't return my call. I need my receipt. He totally dismisses me.
Now here's the kicker. Two days later after the party, he calls me to tell me I never paid him!!!! WTH??? I went down to his place to discuss this in person and he continued to disagree. He argued with me to say I didn't pay him. I was pleasant and said I left you messages and called you when you ran out because I needed my receipt. Thinking in good faith that he would be an honest man and say oh yes, I remember. No he continued to argue and say he never got it. My witnesses saw I paid him so he cannot argue. But I still didn't get my reciept.
Well in the mist of all this nonsense, I had his place investigated. It use to be a restaurant previously, and it was closed down and "SUPPOSEDLY" renovated. But the real reason is because of ASBESTOS. OMG!! This man has no morals or consideration for anyone. He just wants money.
I am not a gullible person and I give people the benefit of doubt. But lesson learned. If you don't comply then give the people back their money.
